Hello friends! This is Niki and after searching for a long time I finally found the perfect Home Made Oreo Cookie! And I am a really picky eater....earning myself the nick name "Picky Niki". When I was little girl, I tried homemade Oreo cookies for the first time at a bridal shower for one of my cousins. I was hooked and declared they were my favorite cookie! Sadly it seemed they were specifically at either bridal or baby showers. Lame.

After getting married I was give the cook book "Cooking for Two" and there it was.....a recipe for Chocolate Sandwich Cookies aka Homemade Oreo Cookies. It was portioned for a really small batch but that was okay. I made them a couple of times but I was never quite satisfied with them. When Pinterest became an app, I started making different recipes. I would try one recipe for the cookies with a different frosting recipe, searching for the perfect one. Eventually I found a combination that was almost perfect. My family would vote for which combinations they liked best but I was perfectionist and wanted the perfectly soft cookie with the delectable chocolate flavor, with a rich cream cheese frosting that was simple and easy to make.
My search finally came to an end when I was invited to a friends house for an activity and she had happened to have made Homemade Oreo Cookies. One bite and I was in heaven! This was the perfect combination that I had been looking for! I asked her if she would be willing to share the recipe with me because I had been searching for the perfect Oreo cookie recipe. She was happy to share it with me because, like me, she too was on the hunt for the best Homemade Oreo Cookies and had come across this recipe!

Best Homemade Oreo Cookies:
1 batch = 24 small cookies
Ingredients:
2 Boxes Devil Food Cake Mix
4 Eggs
3/4 c Oil (Vegetable or Olive)
Frosting
8 oz Soften Cream Cheese
2 2/3 c Powder Sugar
Directions:
1. Mix both boxes of cake mix, eggs, and oil until smooth and tacky.
2. Roll into small balls and place onto cookie sheet. *Tip: put a thin layer of butter or cooking spray onto your hands so dough doesn't stick to your hands*
3. Bake at 350 for 8 minutes. Place cookies on cooling rack and cool completely.
4. After cookies have cooled, match two cookies by size. The closer they are to matching perfect, the better.
5. Frosting: Mix cream cheese and powder sugar until smooth and creamy. *If you wanted to save some time, you could skip this step and just buy a tub of Cream Cheese frosting. It is still very yummy.
6. Spread a thick amount of frosting onto one side of the cookie.
7. Place other half of cookie on top of the frosting.
These cookies are perfect treat for group gatherings or snuggling up in a blanket and watching your favorite TV show or movie.
